KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore Lara Gaspar scored a career-high 22 points, but it was not enough as the Rhode Island women's basketball team fell to St. Bonaventure, 63-53, on Senior Day at the Ryan Center. The Rams end their season at 9-20 (2-10 Atlantic 10) while the Bonnies improve to 21-8 (9-5).

Gaspar connected on 11-of-18 from the field and was the only Ram to score in double figures. She also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Junior Megan Shoniker chipped in offensively as she finished with nine points.

As a team, Rhody outshot St. Bonaventure 46.9-41.5 percent.

St. Bonaventure jumped out to an early seven point lead in the first 4:30, but Rhody responded with a 10-6 run over the next six minutes to cut the Bonnies lead to three (17-14) with 9:12 remaining in the first half.

The Bonnies fought back as they went on a 8-2 run over the next 2:12 to open up a nine-point lead (25-16) with seven to go in the opening 20 minutes.

In the final seven minutes of the first half, Rhody's defense tightened up as it held St. Bonaventure to just two points, but still trailed 27-25 heading into the locker room.

The Bonnies increased their lead to six points in the opening 2:20 of the second half, but Rhody kept the game close as it trimmed SBU's lead back to two points (32-30) with 16:32 to go in the game.

Rhody cut St. Bonaventure's lead to one point (40-39) with 10:54 to go in the game, but that was as close as URI would get. In the final two minutes SBU opened up a nine-point lead to secure the win.

Prior to the game, Rhody honored graduating seniors Andrea Buck and Lindsay Harris. Harris - who missed just one game in four years at Rhode Island - ends her career with a school record 119 appearances.
