After stranding three base runners in the top of the 12th, URI was finally able to push across the game-winning run three innings later. Derner got things rolling with a two-out infield single before advancing to second when Adams was hit by a pitch. Stenhouse then came in to pinch hit for junior Kenny Burns and doubled to left to drive in the go-ahead run.
Freshman reliever Mike Bradstreet earned the win for Rhode Island, scattering four hits with three strikeouts and no walks in four innings of work. Fordham's Daniel Mundy also gave up four hits with three K's over the final four innings but took the loss for the home team.
Rhody had opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Adams led off with a home run over the right field fence. However, the advantage was short-lived as Fordham plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and scored twice more in the fifth to go ahead 4-1.
Rhode Island reclaimed the lead at 5-4 after a four spot in the top of the sixth. Senior Oliver Palmer drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a base hit by junior Tom Coulombe. A double steal then moved both runners into scoring position, setting up junior Evan Laude's two-run single to left. Angulo followed with an infield single that moved Laude to third before a sac-fly by redshirt sophomore Dan Haversitck sent Laude home and made the score 4-4. Angulo went on to steal second and eventually scored the go-ahead run on a failed pickoff attempt by Jordan Grangard.
Rhody senior starter Tim Boyce lasted seven innings and was in position for the win when exiting the game but Fordham came back evened it a five apiece in the bottom of the ninth when Mike Mobbs ripped a two-out single off junior Gardner Leaver. Mobbs took second on a wild pitch and came around to score on Ryan McCrann's single through the left side.
