Box Score How It Happened
The Rams (9-7) got off to a slow start in the first set as Brown (4-8) remained on top until Rhody finally evened the score at 10 apiece. From there, it was all URI as the Rams closed things out on a 15-5 run to take an early 1-0 advantage.
Brown pulled away late in the second set, taking a 20-14 lead after being knotted up at 11-11. Rhode Island cut it to 24-23 but the Bears took the next point as well as the match to even the score at 1-1. The teams played evenly through the third set with Brown again staging a late push that resulted in a 25-20 win as well as a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Rams refocused in the fourth and did not trail the entire time, outlasting Brown 25-15 to force a decisive fifth set. There, Brown and URI traded the lead five times with neither leading by more than two and Rhody eventually coming out on top 16-14.

- With the win, Rhode Island remains unbeaten (4-0) at home this season and improves to 3-1 in five-set matches.
- Freshman Callan Kinnan finished the night with a match-high 51 assists, marking the third time this season she has notched 50+. She also added 15 digs, five blocks (including one solo) and a service ace.
- Sophomore Franki Darnold recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she led all players with 20 kills and 15 digs as well as a team-best two aces.
- Freshman Layne Self had a match-high six blocks while also posting a match-best .467 hitting percentage with 10 kills and three errors in 15 total attacks.
- Junior Caroline Casey also posted a .400+ attack percentage, going .412 with eight kills and just one error on 17 total attacks.
- Junior Catie Steffen tallied 15 kills, marking the eighth time this season she has reached double digits, and the fifth in the last six matches.
Stat of the Night
540 - career assists for Callan Kinnan. The freshman setter eclipsed the 500-assist mark just 47 sets into her collegiate career and currently ranks 22nd all-time in program history.
