Rhody Falls in Three Sets to VCU

How It Happened
Rhode Island (12-13, 4-5 A-10) fell in three sets to the top team in the conference, losing 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 against VCU Saturday night.

After dropping the first two sets, Rhody led 16-14 in the third set before VCU (22-5, 9-1 A-10) ran off eight consecutive points to move ahead 22-16. Led by the powerful attack of Kalah Jones (14 kills) and Romana Kriskov (15 kills), VCU was able to score 11 of the final 12 matches to close it out.

  • VCU had 11 service aces as a team, compared to six for Rhode Island.
  • Franki Darnold, Catie Steffen and Layne Self each had six kills for Rhode Island.
