Rhode Island and George Washington traded the lead five times and had 16 ties in the first set, with neither team leading by more than two. The Rams had three set points - at 24-23, 25-24 and 26-25, where a block by Callan Kinnan and Layne Self finally ended things to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
The second set was just as close with Rhody leading 20-16 before the Colonials closed things out with a 9-1 run to send the teams into the break knotted up at one apiece. GW used another late push in the third set, rallying back from a 19-17 deficit to post a 25-20 victory and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The fourth and final set was all George Washington as the Colonials scored the first two points and did not trail the rest of the way.
The Rams finish the season with a 15-16 record while GW improves to 16-13 and advances to the A-10 semifinals.
