Rhode Island (13-15, 5-7 A-10) staved off four match points, but could not complete to comeback, falling 25-19, 19-25, 35-33, 27-25 at Saint Louis on Friday night.
After coming up short in an epic third set where the teams combined for 68 points, the Rams found themselves down 2-1 in sets and trailing 24-20 in the fourth. Following a pair of attack errors by Saint Louis (11-15, 7-4 A-10), a block by Franki Darnold and Jill Anderson and a kill from Darnold, the Rams tied the set 24-24. However, the Billikens scored three of the final four points to close out the match.
Mallory Dillon had a match-high 25 kills for Saint Louis, while Danielle Rygelski added 15. Meredith Boe had 57 assists for the Billikens.
With the loss, Rhode Island dropped a game behind Dayton for fifth place in the conference standings. The Rams still lead Fordham for sixth place. The top six teams qualify for the A-10 tournament.

- Rhode Island had three players reach double digits in kills, as Franki Darnold (14), Catie Steffen (13), and Lena Vedder (11) paced the attack.
- Layne Self had nine blocks to lead the Rhody defense. With 121 thus far, she has the seventh highest single-season total in team history.
- Freshman Callan Kinnan had 47 assists, and now has 1,019 for the season. She is the first person since Chelsea Wisz in 2004 to reach 1,000 in a single season. Kinnan is just the eighth different Ram in program history to achieve the feat.

- Despite the loss, Rhode Island had a .386 team attack percentage.
