Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SETTING THE SCENE
Rhode Island's Sam Bedore pitched a no-hitter, but the Rams lost at St. Joseph's 2-1 in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday. Rhody (9-32, 2-13 A-10) also fell in the first game, as Taryn Ashway blanked the Rams 1-0 in 10 innings.

Bedore faced 24 batters over six innings. She walked four and hit one batter, and one batter reached on an error. Of the 18 batters Bedore retired, 17 of the outs came via flyouts or pop outs. Bedore did not have a strikeout, and only one batter was retired via a groundout.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, St. Joseph's (31-7, 14-4 A-10) scored twice. Maria Ficca was hit by a pitch. Dana Parks followed with a grounder, but a throwing error allowed Ficca to score from first base while putting Parks on third. Melissa Ruf followed with a sacrifice fly to drive in Parks with an insurance run.

Rhode Island finally got a run on the board in the seventh inning when Meg Kelly scored on a groundout by Jocelyn Mattison. However, the Rams were unable to tie the score despite having two more runners in scoring position.

In the first game, Ashway scattered four hits and one walk over 10 innings while blanking the Rams. Rhody's Erika Szymanski matched her frame for frame through nine innings. However, in the bottom of the 10th, Ficca was hit by a pitch, and Parks reached on an error that put both runners in scoring position. Ruf followed with a walk-off single as Ficca came in with the lone run of the game.
