KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island heads to Yale for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, marking the first meeting between the New England schools in 13 years.
The games originally were slated to be played Wednesday, but they have been moved up a day due to rain expected to hit the area Wednesday afternoon. The Rams - winners of two straight - last played Yale on March 22, 2013. Rhody visited the Bulldogs in New Haven and split a doubleheader. Yale won the opener 5-3 and Rhode Island responded by taking the nightcap 13-6.
Both games Tuesday will be streamed on ESPN+.

RHODE ISLAND VS. YALE - SERIES NOTES
- The all-time series between the teams is split down the middle, 18-18-2.
- Rhode Island enters the week on a two-game winning streak after beating Saint Louis in eight innings in back-to-back games.
- Yale also won its most recent game in extra innings, beating Brown 9-8 in nine innings on Sunday. That victory snapped a five-game skid for the Bulldogs.
- Libby Peoples has been exceptional at the plate for Yale, batting .373 with five doubles, five triples, one home run 11 runs batted in and nine runs scored.
- Ella Gandolfo leads the Bulldogs with 20 runs scored in 27 games played. She has accounted for 20 percent (20 of 98) of the team's total runs scored.
ORNDORFF MAKING WINNING PLAYS FOR RAMS
- Junior Sydney Orndorff scored the eventual game-winning runs in back-to-back games for Rhode Island in its weekend series at Saint Louis.
- In the top of the eighth on March 28, Orndorff singled and scored to put Rhody ahead 5-3.
- The run proved vital when the Billikens scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Rams still won 6-4.
- The next day, Orndorff had an RBI single to drive in the tying run and make the score 2-2 in the top of the third inning.
- In the top of the eighth, she drew a one-out walk before stealing both second and third base.
- Orndorff scored the winning run on a single by Hannah Hernandez, helping URI win the three-game series.
- Orndorff is on a four-game hitting streak during which she is batting .545 (6-for-11) with three runs scored and two RBI
- For the season, she is batting .351 with one double, one triple, four walks, seven runs scored and four RBI.
- In her second season with the Rams, Orndorff is batting .315 in her time at URI. That is currently the sixth-best career batting average in program history.
MALEITZKE COMING THROUGH IN A PINCH
- Junior Natalie Maleitzke has hits in each of her last five pinch-hit appearances.
- For the season, Maleitzke is 5-for-6 with one home run, two doubles and three runs batted in as a pinch hitter.
- She has raised her season batting average to .296 (8-for-27).
- After going hitless in her first 11 at bats of the season, Maleitzke is batting .500 since.
- The Canton, Ga. native has started 10 of the 17 games in which she has played this season.
