How It Happened
Rhode Island (6-7) opened the day with a 3-0 win over New Hampshire before falling to Connecticut, 3-2, in the night match.

The Rams dominated the Wildcats (5-9) in the early match, posting a .438 hitting percentage in the first set (32A/15K/2E) and cruising to the three-set victory.

Rhody jumped out to 1-0 lead over Connecticut (8-6) in the late match, but the Huskies evened things up with a 30-28 victory in the second set. The Rams pulled back ahead with a 25-18 win in the third set but UConn knotted the score once again after taking the fourth set by a score of 25-18. Rhode Island led 11-8 in the fifth-set tiebreaker but the Huskies closed things out on a 7-2 tear to complete the comeback victory.

Inside the Box Score

• Sophomore Franki Darnold combined for 38 kills over the two matches, recording a career-high 23 against UConn and adding 15 against New Hampshire. She also posted her team-best sixth double-double of the season after adding 17 digs in the UConn match.
• Freshman Callan Kinnan put up 56 assists against the Huskies and 41 against the Wildcats. Both were match-highs. She also added 20 kills and five blocks on the day.
• Sophomore Cate Seman picked up her second double-double of the year with 17 digs and 11 kills against the Huskies. She also combined for a team-best four aces in URI's two matches.
• Rhody had three players with double-digit digs in each match. Against UNH, senior Kalyn Schieffer had 14, Kinnan had 12 and Seman had 10. Seman and Darnold each had 17 against UConn while sophomore Lizzy Scanlon added 16.
• Junior Catie Steffen recorded 14 kills against UConn and 12 against UNH. She has turned in 10-or-more kills six times this season, including each of URI's last three matches.
