Bedore, Rams Earn Split at Saint Louis

How it Happened
Senior pitcher Sam Bedore hurled 4.2 innings of one-hit relief and Taylor Archer drove in Stacey Fox with the winning run as Rhode Island (7-19, 2-2 A-10) beat Saint Louis 2-1 in the second game of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Saturday.The Billikens (16-13, 3-1) won the opener, 7-2.

With the scored tied 1-1, Fox reached on a fielder's choice with two outs in the top of the fourth inning. She stole second and advanced to third on an infield single by Lauren Klepchick. Taylor Archer drove her in with a single up the middle.

Staked with a lead, Bedore did the rest. She faced just three batters more than the minimum, allowing one hit, walking two and striking out six en route to the victory.


Inside the Box Score:

  • Senior Sam Bedore picked up the 25th victory of her career in the second game, making her just the 10th Rhody pitcher to reach the mark. With six strikeouts, Bedore also moved into third place in school history with 314. She trails only Gwen Rack (493) and Sue Foggo (328).
  • Sophomore Taylor Archer had two hits in the second game, including a RBI single that provided the winning run. The two-hit performance was the team-best seventh multi-hit game of the season for Archer.
  • Sophomore Lauren Klepchick had one hit in each end of the doubleheader to extend her hitting streak to seven games.
  • Freshman Marylynn Muldowney had two hits and a run scored in the first game, and she added a walk in the second game. She now has eight hits in her last seven games.
  • Olivia Hendricks appeared as a pinch runner and scored during the second game.


Stat of the Day
996 – With 17 putouts Saturday, senior Jocelyn Mattison now has 996 career putouts. She needs just four more to become the third player in school history to reach 1000 putouts. The others are Courtney Wall (1,216) and Leah DiBussolo (1,039).

What's Next

Rhode Island returns home for a rematch with in-state rival Providence Wednesday, to Atlantic 10 play when it travels to Saint Louis for a doubleheader Saturday, March 29. The first game begins at noon.
