Box Score 2 How it Happened
Jocelyn Mattison, Amy Gleason and Lauren Klepchick each hit a solo home run to help Rhode Island (12-30, 5-9 Atlantic 10) beat St. Bonaventure 4-3 and salvage a doubleheader split Saturday. The Bonnies (7-31, 4-9 Atlantic 10) blanked the Rams 8-0 in the first game.
After hitting three home runs combined in the first 41 games of the season, Rhody matched that total in the second game of the doubleheader. Mattison hit her second long ball of the season to lead off the top of the second, and Gleason hit her first career homer with one out in the fourth inning.
After St. Bonaventure tied the score 2-2 in the fifth, Klepchick launched her second career home run to left center with one out in the sixth. With two outs, junior Deanna Wolf delivered a two-out, pinch-hit RBI double to drive in Mattison with what proved to be the winning run.
