Rhode Island (9-4) dropped its third straight match as it fell 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 17-25, 26-24) to Brown at New Hampshire's Holly Young Invitational Saturday.
After opening the season with eight straight victories, the Rams have stumbled of late, losing four of its last five matches. After dropping the first two sets in a sluggish start gainst the Bears (3-8), Rhode Island mounted a comeback, taking the third set 25-17.
Rhody looked poised to tie the match when it held a 23-21 lead in the fourth set, and had set point at 24-23, but Brown scored the final three points of the set to clinch the match.

- Junior Franki Darnold had a match-high 18 kills and nine digs, just missing her seventh double-double of the season. Darnold earned all-tournament team honors after recording 49 kills and 33 digs over 12 sets.
- Sophomore Layne Self had nine kills and eight block assists. She had 17 block assists in two matches Saturday.
- Sophomore Callan Kinnan had 44 assists, seven digs and six block assists. She became the eighth player in program history to reach 1,600 career assists, finishing the match with 1,604. She joined Jessica Salmans (5,897), Christy Sandefur (3,515), Annie Nelson (2,357), Dee Dee Hull (2,246), Kris Normandin (2,234), Julia Valencia (2,042), Kaira Kachadurian (1,695) and Julia Schlect (1,677) as Rhody players with at least 1,600 assists.
- Freshman Marie Gillcrist had six kills and a .333 attack percentage. She added three block assists and one dig.
- Senior Catie Steffen had seven kills and 12 digs, while junior Cate Seman had seven kills and nine digs.

99 – Senior Catie Steffen played in her 99th career match Saturday night. With her next match, she will become the 21st Ram to play at least 100 matches.
