The URI men finished in 17 place as a team and finally showed some of the potential that they possess.  Leading the Rams was freshman Alec Font (Elliott City, M.D.) who finished in 99th place with a personal best time of 26:11 (5:16 mile average).  Only eight seconds behind Font in 110th place was Jake Magiera (West Warwick, R.I.).  Font and Magiera ran as a tandem through much of the race that was contested over a hot, dry and extremely dusty course at Franklin Park in Boston.  Junior Team Captain, Tom Fownes (Cumberland, R.I.) was another 31 seconds back in 145th place with a time of 26:50.  Middle distance specialist, Kevin Lochard (Stamford, Conn.) ran a personal best of 27:07 for 153rd.  Rounding out the scorers for the Rams was Adam Thies (Cranston, R.I.) at 27:26, an almost two minute improvement since last season.  Coach Copeland was very happy with the results and feels that the shows great potential as it matures.  None of the scorers will graduate next year.
