Font Paces The Rams; Rhode Island Competes in Rothenberg Run

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island placed eighth overall at the 2015 Rothenberg Race, held at Goddard State Park in Warwick, R.I. 

Rhody's top finisher was sophomore Alec Font, who finished 20th overall with a time of 25.43.8 in the eight-kilometer course. Font has paced the Rams in all three of their races this season. 

Sophomore Alexander McGrainer (26:46.6), senior Kevin Seaver (26:47.2), and  junior Zach Campo (26:49.6) finished in a three-man pack in 51st, 52nd and 53rd place respectively. Michael MacLean was the fifth man for Rhody in the race clocking a time of 27:33.6 (69th)

Junior Adam Thies (27:37.5, 70th) and freshman Nichols Celico (27:38.2, 71st) rounded out the finishers for the Rams'. 

URI complied a team score of 200. Connecticut took home the team title with a score of 30, led by Mike O'Donnell who captured the individual crown with a time of 24:58.7 

Rhode Island returns to the racecourse next Friday, Oct. 23, when they compete in the Mini Meet hosted by Central Connecticut State University. The race is held at Stanley Quarter Park, with the race set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
