Box Score

How It Happened
Rhode Island (14-6, 4-3) opened on a tear, claiming nine of the first 10 points to put the first set out of reach early on.

After falling 25-16 in the opening set, Fordham (8-16, 2-5) scored the first point of the second to take its first lead of the night. From there, Rhody reeled off six straight points and more than doubled its lead when an ace by Callan Kinnan made it 20-9. The Rams closed out the set on a 5-3 run to grab the 25-12 victory and head into the break up two sets to none.

The third set was much closer as neither team led by more than four points. With URI up 22-20, a pair of Rhody errors and a Fordham ace put the visiting Rams ahead 23-22. Fordham eventually won the set on a Rhode Island service error.

Fordham rode the momentum into the fourth and led 7-5 before a 5-0 Rhody push gave URI a 10-7 advantage. The Rams remained on top the rest of the way, winning the set 25-18 and claiming the match at 3-1.
