NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Rhode Island men's cross country team competed this afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park in the Mini Meet hosted by Central Connecticut State. Rhody finished 12th overall with a team score of 341.
Junior Jacob Magiera paced the Rams who finished the five-kilometer course with the 62nd best time overall, crossing the finish line in 15.58.5. Just six seconds behind him, was freshman Timothy Slack who fished the course in 16.04.8 good enough for 69th overall.
The remaining scorers for Rhode Island was freshman Nicholas Celico (16.09.0, 73rd), followed by Kevin Seaver (16.12.9, 77th). The fifth scorer was senior Michael MacLean who finished in 87th place with a time of 16.25.1.
Thomas Fownes rounded out the finishers for Rhody, finishing with a time of 16.29.8 which placed him 91st overall.
Rhode Island returns to the racecourse next Saturday when it travels to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., for the Atlantic 10 Championship. Race time is set for 10:45 a.m.
