Box Score

How It Happened
Rhode Island led by as many as seven points in the first set, after an Audrey Castro kill put the Rams up 13-6. Rhody remained in control and led 18-14 but the Flyers made a late push and closed out the set with an 11-2 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second set, URI pulled ahead at 7-6 and remained on top until UD tied it up at 24-24. The Rams responded with back-to-back kills from Franki Darnold and Callan Kinnan however, taking the set 26-24 and evening the match at one apiece.

The third set also took extra points to decide, with Dayton coming out on top 30-28.

The Rams knotted it up again in the fourth, this time closing with 16-4 run to force a decisive fifth set. There, the teams traded points in the early going but three straight Rhody errors followed by a UD kill allowed the Flyers to pull ahead 11-7. A Layne Self kill and back-to-back aces by Kinnan got Rhody to within one (11-10) but Dayton claimed the next four points to win the match 3-2.
