How it Happened
Rhode Island (0-1) got off to a shaky start, committing five errors over the first four innings while allowing the No. 2 Gators to build up a 5-0 lead. URI's Steve Moyers, did not allow an earned run until the bottom of the fifth.
The Gators (1-0) managed to keep Rhody off the board until the top of the eighth, when Mike Sherburne launched the first pitch he saw from reliever Alex Faedo over the left field wall to make it a 9-1 game.
