Rams Play Pioneers to 3-3 Tie, 2-1 Loss in Sunday Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

How it Happened in Game 1
The Pioneers recorded just one hit in the game, but it was all they would need as Victor Sorrento's fifth-inning double plated a pair of runners that had reached by way of walk and hit by pitch.

Rhody managed eight hits to Sacred Heart's one, but the Rams were unable to push across a run until the bottom of the ninth when Connor Foreman doubled to drive in Ryan Olmo, who had reached on a two-out error.

Hampered by a lack of run support, starter Lou Distasio was charged with the loss, despite allowing just one hit and striking out eight over an 8.0-inning start.

How it Happened in Game 2
The Pioneers scored an unearned run in the top of the first and managed to hold the Rams hitless until the bottom of the seventh, when Foreman singled through the right side.

Rhody finally got on the board the following inning as Nick DeRegis' bases-loaded single drove in Derek Gardella and Mike Corin to give URI its first lead of the day. Chase Livingston later sent a sac-fly into right to plate Chris Hess and put URI up 3-1.

Starter Tyler Wilson kept the Rams in it, allowing just one hit from the second inning until the ninth, where Sacred Heart got a pair of RBI singles from Jesus Medina and Zack Short to level the score at 3-3.

Hess drew a two-out walk for the Rams in the bottom of the frame, but shortly after became Rhody's 12th stranded runner of the game.

After a scoreless 10th inning, the umpires called the game due to darkness.
