How it Happened
Derek Gardella drew a one-out walk in the top of the third and Martin Taveras followed with a two-run, opposite-field homer to give Rhode Island (15-16-1) a 2-0 lead. Mike Sherburne then made it 3-0 Rhody in the top of the fourth when he crossed the plate on a passed ball.

The following inning, Chris Hess singled to right center, stole second, tagged and took third on a fly-out to left and then scored on a two-out error. Sherburne and Matt O'Neil then executed a double steal to set up Chase Livingston's two-run single that gave the Rams a 6-0 advantage.

Chris DelDebbio then went to work for the Hawks, crushing a three-run homer in the fifth, followed by a two-run shot that cut Rhody's lead to one (6-5) in the seventh. The Hawks would then tie the game on a safety squeeze and use a sacrifice fly to push across the game-winning run.
