How it Happened
Rhode Island (9-12-1) took an early 1-0 lead as Mike Corin singled to drive in Tim Caputo with two away in the top of the first.
However, Quinnipiac (10-16) responded with a two-out rally of its own, getting a three-run double, a two-run homer and an RBI single to pull ahead 6-1.
Similar to in the first, Caputo got on base to lead off the third and was driven in by Corin to make it a 6-2 game. The Bobcats would push one across in the bottom of the frame though, reclaiming the five-run advantage (7-2).
A fifth-inning rally saw Rhody tack on three more as the Rams continued to chip away at the lead. Derek Gardella ripped a lead-off double and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Olmo. Martin Taveras later doubled to left center to drive in both Corin and Nick DeRegis.
Shortly after however, the game was called due to continuous rainfall making field conditions unplayable.
