How it Happened
Rhode Island (26-25-1) got on the board first, as Nick DeRegis singled to lead off the second and later scored on a two-out single by Jordan Powell.

VCU (36-22) evened it up in the in the bottom of the fourth and then pulled ahead in the fifth after Darian Carpenter doubled to right to drive in a pair.

The Rams got the runs back in the top of the seventh, thanks in part to a pair of triples by Connor Foreman and Tim Caputo. Foreman led off the inning with a blast that ricocheted off the wall in right centerfield before Caputo ripped one down the left field line. Caputo then scored on a sac-fly by Olmo to knot it back up at three apiece.

VCU finally pulled ahead in the bottom of the eighth, capitalizing on a Rhode Island fielding error and a passed ball to score the game-winning runs.
