KINGSTON, R.I.-- The Rhode Island Men's cross country team competed this afternoon at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The team finished in 21st place overall in a field which included nationally ranked schools such as, Syracuse (#4), Providence (#24) and Florida State (#26).
Sophomore Alec Font finished the 8k course at Franklin Park in a team best 26:22 (142nd place). The second runner for the Rams was junior Zach Campo who finished with a time of 26:37 which placed him in 155th overall. Rounding out the scorers for Rhode Island were sophomore Alexander McGrainer (27:03, 171st), junior Jacob Magiera (27:05, 172nd) and sophomore Kevin Seaver who crossed the finish line in 27:22 (178th overall).
Other Rhody runners included: Adam Thies (27:44, 182nd), Thomas Fownes (27:51,183rd), Tim Slack (20:02, 184th) and Nick Celico (28:14, 186th).
The Rams return to action on Oct.10 when the team returns to Franklin Park to compete in the New England Championship. Race time is scheduled for noon.
