Box Score How It Happened
Rhode Island won its ninth match in a row with a 3-0 victory over visiting Davidson Sunday afternoon. The Rams - who remain unbeaten at home this season - improve to 11-3 (2-0) while Davidson drops to 6-9 (1-1).
The first two sets were all Rhode Island as the Rams converted 75 percent of their sideout chances while allowing Davidson just 16 combined kills. Rhody claimed the first set 25-13 before taking the second by a score of 25-14.
Davidson kept it close in the third set and - for the first time in the match - led by more than one point at 4-2. With the Rams up 13-11, the Wildcats called a timeout and proceeded to reel off five straight points to take their largest lead of the day at 16-13. From there, the teams traded points until Marie Gillcrist's sixth kill of the match ended things with Rhody on top 25-22.

- The Rams combined for a .237 hitting percentage on the afternoon. Entering the weekend, Davidson had owned the Atlantic 10's best opponent hitting percentage at .174.
- On the other side of the net, the Wildcats struggled to find any sort of offensive rhythm. Davidson finished the match with a .072 hitting percentage and failed to hit better than .100 in any individual set.
- Junior Audrey Castro led all players with 13 kills on the afternoon. She was the lone player to reach double digits in kills, marking her seventh straight match with 10 or more. She also added six digs and a pair of block assists.
- Junior Layne Self hit an impressive .545, recording eight kills on 11 swings with just two errors. She also registered three blocks to go along with a dig and an assist.
- Junior Callan Kinnan put up her fourth double-double of the season with 29 assists and 13 digs.
- Senior Franki Darnold and sophomore Marie Gillcrist each finished with six kills for the Rams. Gillcrist also had a pair of blocks while Darnold added four digs.
Stat of the Day
9 – Rhode Island has now won nine consecutive matches, marking the team's longest winning streak since the 2001 Rams won 10 in a row.
What's Next
The Rams will hit the road for a pair of A-10 road matches next weekend. Rhody will first face Saint Louis on Friday before playing at Dayton on Sunday.
