How It Happened
The University of Rhode Island Women's Track & Field will take the overall lead into the final day of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Track & Field Championships. The Rams scored 49 total points on the first day of competition to hold the lead. Richmond (33), George Mason (33), UMass Amherst (32) and Dayton (26) round out the top five of the 12 team field.
The day got started with senior Keiko Hector winning the women's pentathlon with 3,695 points. Hector's jump of 1.70m tied her personal best and now sits third all-time in URI's program history in this event while competing in the A-10's Championships. Hector also set a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:18.63. Teammate Hannah Madison finished third scoring 3196 points.
Rhody finished second in the pole vault and notched a third place finish in the weight throw.

Other Rhody Highlights
- Janel Conley finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.75m; Hector finished right behind her in sixth with a leap of 5.62m.
- In the weight throw Aysha Moreino took bronze with a throw of 15.73m. Grace Janes finished fifth with a distance of 15.55m.
- Karleigh Manfredi collected a second place finish in the pole vault surpassing the bar height of 3.70m. Karlee Fowler tied for fifth with a height of 3.45m.
- Janel Conley set a new personal best and qualified for the 60m hurdle finals. Her time of 8.59s ranks second all-time in program history.
- Briana Robitaille set a new personal best and qualified for the finals in the 60m dash with a time of 7.77s.
- Dyshelle Pemberton crossed the line in 1:15.77 which advanced her into the finals of the 500m run.
- Kylie McPherson (58.47) set a new personal best and qualified for tomorrows 400m run finals. Teammate Mariah Claudio finished with a time of 57.07 also advancing to the finals.
