How it Happened
Matt Murphy pitched seven shutout innings to lead Rhode Island to a 3-0 win at No. 30 Arkansas Sunday afternoon. It was the second road win over a nationally-ranked opponent for the Rams, who beat No. 6 N.C. State on March 3.

Rhode Island (6-8) got on the board quickly, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Chris Hess led off with a single and moved over to third base when Martin Figueroa doubled to the gap in right center. Jordan Powell brought in both runners with a single down the rightfield line.

Justin Jewell hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the second, extending Rhode Island's lead to 3-0. The Rams did not get another runner into scoring position the rest of the way, but Murphy made the runs count. He allowed just three hits and retired the final eight batters he faced to get Rhode Island deep into the game with the lead.

Arkansas (12-4) got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth. With one out, the Razorbacks drew back-to-back walks to bring Grant Koch to the plate. Tyler Barss came on to record a pop up and a foul out to end the threat. Barss then retired Arkansas in order in the ninth to secure the win.
