How it Happened
Rhode Island (16-14) and Holy Cross (12-18) matched one another with two runs in both the top and bottom of the first inning, but the Crusaders pulled ahead for good in the top of the third. There, they used five hits and a walk to push across four runs and take a 6-2 lead.
Rhody cut it to 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth when Chris Hess was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, but Holy Cross pushed its lead back to four in the top of the sixth.
The Rhody bullpen limited Holy Cross to just one single the rest of the way - a base-hit bunt in the top of the eighth - but the Rams were unable to push any additional runs across.
