How it Happened
Rhode Island (15-12, 6-1 A-10) wasted no time getting on the board, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Chris Hess got things started with a leadoff walk, before advancing to second on a sac-bunt by Jordan Powell and then crossing the plate on Martin Figueroa's single up the middle. Matt O'Neil followed with his second home run of the series to put the Rams up by three.
St. Bonaventure (12-11, 6-5 A-10) got a run back in the bottom of the frame and cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the second but the Rams plated two more in the top of the third. There, Figueroa reached on an error and scored on a triple by O'Neil, who then made it a 5-2 game on a groundout by Mike Corin.
Mike Foley's third homer of the season put the Rams up 6-2 in the top of sixth, but the Bonnies pushed one across in the bottom of the game to once again make it a three-run game (6-3).
SBU added another in the bottom of the seventh but the Rams used a two-run Rhode Island ninth to seal the 8-4 victory.
