How it Happened
Rhode Island finished 17th at the 5th Annual Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College. On a cold, windy afternoon, third-ranked Syracuse took first, with Illinois and Indiana rounding out the top three.
"While the results don't reflect it, the team ran very well," head coach John Copeland said. "Every person either ran better than they did last year at this race or set a personal best. I am very happy with their performances."
Rhode Island's top seven finishers all made significant passes during the second half of the race. Copeland said a few Rhody runners passed as many as 39 runners in the field between the third mile and the finish.
