How it Happened
Rhode Island won its second straight game, outlasting Western Kentucky in an overtime battle, 86-82, Saturday afternoon at the Ryan Center.

Carried early by Tyrese Martin (15 first-half points) and the play of Antwan Walker, Rhode Island (7-3) led for most of regulation. The Rams got ahead by as many as 11 in the second half before the Hilltoppers (7-4) came all the way back.

After Western Kentucky's Carson Williams hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer of regulation, Rhody had to regroup for the extra session. Though the Rams never trailed in overtime, the visiting Hilltoppers were able to respond twice to URI baskets and tie the score. A layup by Cyril Langevine with 2:07 left in OT put the Rams ahead for good, as defense and free throws secured the victory.

Jermaine Harris had two steals and Fatts Russell scored Rhode Island's final four points - all on free throws - as the Rams won their final non-conference home game of the regular season.
