How it Happened
A limited bench doomed Rhode Island in a 64-59 loss at St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon.

Rhode Island started the game hot with a 16-0 run to establish a commanding 21-6 lead. Rhody allowed just one more field goal from the Bonnies to end the first quarter up 21-8.

The Bonnies responded on a 9-0 run of their own and held the Rams without a field goal until Brazil Harvey-Carr hit a layup at the 5:55 mark in the second quarter. SBU got its first lead (28-27) after a 3-pointer from Dajah Logan with 56 seconds left in the half. The Bonnies held the Rams to just three field goals in the second period.

St. Bonaventure built its lead to as many as nine points in the third (44-35). Kassondra Brown hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to four (44-40) at the end the quarter.

A stingy Rams defense held the Bonnies without a field goal for 3:03 in the fourth period. During that span, Rhody climbed back behind points from Haby Niang and a game-tying 3-pointer from Erin Jones (49-49). Brazil Harvey-Carr nailed a 3-pointer to get the Rams within one (58-57) at the 2:11 mark. Jess Rogers grabbed a big offensive board and made a layup, but it wasn't enough as the Bonnies hit 6-of-6 at the free throw line down the final stretch to seal the 64-59 victory.
