How it HappenedÂ
Jeremy Sheppard scored a season-high 25 points and
Makhi Mitchell added a double-double as Rhode Island rolled to an 82-58 win at Milwaukee Monday night.
Rhode Island (8-3) scored the first 10 points of the game and never relinquished the lead. Despite a choppy first half in which the Rams turned the ball over nine times, Rhody pulled away late in the half. After Milwaukee (2-8) got a jumper from DeAndre Gholston to make the score 18-16, URI ended the half on a 16-5 run that included six points from Sheppard and five from
Jalen Carey. The surge sent the Rams into the break ahead by 13.
The lead lived in double digits throughout the second half. Rhode Island shot 53.3 percent from the floor en route to 48 second-half points. Sheppard had 14 after the break while Mitchell added nine as URI remained in control while winning its second in a row and fourth of its last five games.
