How it Happened
Rhode Island scored four runs over the final two innings to pick up its first win of the season, winning at Old Dominion 6-4 Friday.

Trailing 3-2 after seven innings, the Rams (1-3) got things started with a leadoff single by Xavier Vargas and a walk to Greg Cavaliere. With one out, Jordan Laske drew a walk to load the bases. Pinch hitter Max Mircovich delivered a single to center to drive in Vargas and tie the game. A Tino Salgado groundout allowed Cavaliere to score, putting the Rams up, 4-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, Old Dominion (4-1) got a leadoff single from Kyle Battle, and he moved to scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, a wild pitch moved him to third, and a second wild pitch brought him in to knot things up, 4-4.

Rhode Island again got its leadoff hitter on to start the ninth inning, as Josh Brodeur worked the count full before walking. With one out, Vargas singled through the right side, and Cavaliere was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for pinch hitter Joe Fortin.  He singled to right field on the first pitch he saw, driving in Brodeur and Vargas with the go-ahead runs for the Rams.

Zach Fernandez took care of the Monarchs in the final frame, striking out the side in order on just 12 pitches.
