How it Happened
Rhode Island kept rallying from deficits to pick up the 12-11 victory over Hofstra Friday afternoon.
The Rams (11-10-1) came back from deficits of four runs, two runs and one run in the back-and-forth contest.
Hofstra (7-6) opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning, using four hits and two Rhode Island errors to put a round number on the scoreboard. Rhody responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame as
Sonny Ulliana had an RBI single and
Greg Cavaliere drove in
Josh Brodeur with a fielder's choice grounder.
The Rams moved ahead by a run in the next inning. Brodeur drove in
Tino Salgado with a double, and Ulliana brought
Austin White in with a groundout.
Xavier Vargas delivered a two-out single to bring in Brodeur to make the score 5-4 Rams.
Hofstra tied the score in the top of the fifth, but URI came right back with two runs in the bottom half. After walks to Cavaliere and
Tommy Cartnick,
Mark Coley doubled down the left field line to drive both runners in and out Rhody ahead, 7-5.
The momentum swung back to Hofstra in the top of the sixth. After two outs were recorded, the Pride scored four times, taking advantage of three hits, two walks and a wild pitch to move in front, 9-7.
in the bottom of the seventh, Rhode Island loaded the bases on singles from Cartnick, Coley and
Alex Santos. Pinch hitter
Joe Fortin was hit by a pitch, forcing Cartnick in from third. White followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Coley, and Santos came in on a wild pitch to put URI ahead, 10-9.
Hofstra retook the lead with two runs in the top of the eighth. No lead was safe in this contest though. In the bottom of the eighth, Rhode Island loaded the bases again with one out, as Cavaliere was hit by a pitch, Cartnick walked and Coley reached on an infield single. Santos  drilled a single up the middle to drive in Cavaliere and pinch runner
Calvin McCall, as URI went back in front, 12-11.
Trystan Levesque retired the side in order in the ninth inning to end the game and secure to victory for Rhode Island.

Inside the Box Score
- The teams combined for 28 hits and 14 walks.
- Freshman Tommy Cartnick reached base safely five times, drawing four walks and singling once. He scored twice, and his walk allowed pinch runner Calvin McCall to enter the game and eventually score the winning run.
- Freshman Alex Santos had two hits, including the game-winning two run single in the eight inning.
- Junior Mark Coley doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs. He also scored once.
- Redshirt senior Josh Brodeur and junior Austin White each doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in a run.
- White also stole a base and walked.
- Redshirt senior Greg Cavaliere walked, was hit by a pitch and stole three bases. He also scored twice and drove in a run.
- Redshirt senior Sonny Ulliana singled and drove in two runs to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
- Freshman Trystan Levesque improved to 2-0 with 1.2 innings of scoreless work.
- With the win, the Rams improve to 7-0 at home.Â
