How it Happened
Rhode Island (11-12-1) dropped a pair of tough-luck losses at Hofstra (9-6), losing the first game 3-1 in walk-off fashion before dropping the second game 5-4. The second game ended with the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position.

Game 1 – Hofstra 3, Rhode Island 1 (8th inn.)
For the third time in eight games, Rhode Island suffered a walk-off loss as Hofstra's Brian Goulard hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Pride to the win.

The Rams led 1-0 into the sixth inning, thanks to a stellar outing from Mike Webb. He pitched 7.0 innings and did not allow a run until there was two outs in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on the corners, Steve Harrington snuck a single through the right side to tie the score and get Hofstra on the board.

Rhode Island scored its lone run in the top of the first when Josh Brodeur scored on a Sonny Ulliana ground out. The Rams had a strong chance to break the game open in the top of the sixth. Xavier Vargas led off with a double, Greg Cavaliere walked and Tommy Cartnick singled to load the bases with nobody out. However, an infield pop up, a strikeout and a ground out ended the threat with no runs.

Game 2 – Hofstra 5, Rhode Island 4
Rhody trailed 3-0 after two innings, but rallied to tie the score. Greg Cavaliere singled to drive in Sonny Ulliana in the fourth inning. An inning later, Austin White's RBI double brought Jordan Laske in. It was Addison Kopack's run-scoring single that drove Cavaliere in to tie the game.

A two-run home run by Steve Harrington regained the lead for Hofstra in the bottom of the sixth.

Josh Brodeur and Ulliana were both hit by pitches to start the seventh inning, getting the tying runs on base. A two-out walk drawn by Joe Fortin loaded the bases. Kopack followed with a walk to force Brodeur home to get Rhody within a run. However, a strikeout ended the game.
