PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior
Paulina Loredo provided Rhode Island with its lone victory in a very competitive match against Dartmouth on the final day of the Brown Invitational Sunday. Four of the six matches were decided in three sets.
Playing at No. 4 singles, Loredo opened in dominant fashion against Valentina Cruz. She took the first set 6-2 before Cruz bounced back in the second, 6-0. Loredo won the super set tiebreaker, 10-6.
Ava Grnja had an epic battle with Dartmouth's Brooke Hess at No. 3 singles. After Grnja swept the first set 6-0, Hess evened the match by winning the next set, 6-2. The superset needed 20 points for a decision, with Hess squeaking out an 11-9 score.

Valentina Cvackova battled Ujvala Jupalli, falling 6-2, 6-7 (1), 10-3.
In doubles play,
Nadia Rajan and
Nikki Fernando played a strong match despite a loss for Rhode Island. After taking the first set 6-3, Rajan and Fernando dropped the second set 6-4. Similar to Grnja's singles match, the tiebreaker went to Dartmouth's team of Chidimma Okpara and Ashley Hess, 11-9.
Sunday's competition ended the fall portion of the schedule for Rhode Island.
