How it Happened
Trailing 4-0, Rhode Island used a six-run fourth inning to take its first lead of the series with William & Mary.
Calvin McCall got the scoring started with a bases-loaded single that scored
Xavier Vargas and
Alex Ramirez.
Jack Cucinotta followed with a two-run double that plated both McCall and
Anthony DePino and tied the score at four apiece.
Eric Genther then hit another two-run double for the Rams, driving in Cucinotta and
Tino Salgado for the 6-4 Rhody advantage.
Â
The Tribe got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but URI went back up by two in the sixth when Genther singled to score Salgado. William & Mary responded again however, this time using a six-run sixth to take the lead for good.
Â
An eighth-inning solo shot by Genther cut URI's deficit to 11-8 but the Tribe added four more in the bottom of the inning to seal the 15-8 victory.
