How it Happened
St. Bonaventure's Jalen Adaway scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half to lead St. Bonaventure to a 73-55 win over Rhode Island Tuesday night.
Adaway was the dominant player on the court in the opening 20 minutes. The small forward scored 19Â points before the break, helping the Bonnies (18-7,10-4 A-10) to an eight-point lead by halftime. Rhode Island (13-13, 4-10) managed to keep the score close, tying the score at 19-19 following a
Malik Martin layup with 5:55 left in the half. The Bonnies, however, got back-to-back 3-pointers from Adaway to spark a 16-7 run to end the period.
The Bonnies opened the second half with a 7-0 run to extend to a 15-point lead at 42-27. Rhody managed to trim the deficit to nine points following a 6-0 run that included a
