How it Happened
Rhode Island (0-6) struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.
Addison Kopack got things started with a one-out single to left, and then stole second to set up
Alex Ramirez's RBI single.
Â
Southpaw
Trystan Levesque allowed just one base runner in each of the first three innings, before an error-extended fourth allowed South Alabama (5-2) to even the score at 1-1. The Jaguars added another run in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.
Â
Anthony DePino doubled down the right field line with one away in the seventh, and
Rob Butler followed with a single through the left side that plated DePino and made it a 2-2 game. South Alabama capitalized on another Rhody error in the home half of the inning however, scoring what proved to be the game winning run with two away.
