PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Rhode Island opened conference play with a 4-0 neutral-site loss to Richmond Saturday morning.
The Spiders (5-9, 3-3 Atlantic 10) won the doubles point with victories at the top two doubles spots. Straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles made the lead 3-0 for Richmond.
Rhode Island (6-9, 0-1 A-10) got a game performance at the top singles spot from
Nadia Rajan. After dropping the opening set to Emily Dunbar 6-1, Rajan evened the score by taking the second set, 6-3. However, Dunbar took the third set 6-3 to clinch the point and the team victory.
When the match was halted, the three remaining matches were all close. Rhode Island's
