How it Happened
Leading 1-0 after two innings of play, Rhode Island stretched the lead to 8-0 in the top of the third. Addison Kopack got the scoring started with a three-run homer that also plated Calvin McCall and Jordan Laske. The Rams' next four runs all came with two outs as Anthony DePino hit a solo shot, and Justin Cherry, Rob Butler and Tommy Cartnick followed with back-to-back-to back singles to load the bases. McCall – in his second at-bat of the inning – sent a single to right field to drive in Cherry and Butler and push URI's lead to 7-0. A successful double steal – where McCall took second and Cartnick crossed the plate – then made it an 8-0 game.

The Riverhawks got four runs back in the bottom of the inning, but were held to just one hit in their next five trips to the plate.

Meanwhile, Kopack scored again in the fourth – on an RBI single by DePino – and then used a sacrifice fly to push across Brody McKenzie in the fifth for the 10-4 advantage.

UMass Lowell scored its fifth and final run of the game with two away in the bottom of the ninth.
