How it Happened
Trailing 4-1 after three innings, Rhody came back and evened the score in the bottom of the fourth.
Eric Genther got things started with a leadoff walk, and advanced to third on a base hit by
Anthony DePino. A sacrifice fly by
Joe Fortin then allowed Genther to cross the plate and cut the Billikens lead in half.
Justin Cherry then delivered a two-run homer to right field to even the score at four apiece.
Â
Saint Louis quickly got back on top however, thanks to a fifth inning solo shot by Cam Redding.
Â
Rhody tied the score once more in the bottom of the seventh as Fortin singled up the middle with two away, advanced to second on a wild pitch and then scored on an RBI single by
Jordan Laske.
Â
SLU again reclaimed the lead in its next trip to the plate as Redding doubled down the left field like to drive in Cameron Swanger. DePino responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 7-6 game, but the Billikens piled on five more runs in the ninth for the 12-6 victory.
