How it Happened
Rhode Island jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Spiders recorded their first out of the game, thanks to a three-run homer from Addison Kopack. Eric Genther then doubled and was later driven in by Joe Fortin to give the Rams a 4-0 advantage after half an inning of play.

Richmond got two runs back in the bottom of the first, but URI extended its lead to 5-3 in the top of the third. There, a Anthony DePino collected a two-out walk, moved to second on a base hit by Fortin and then came around to score in a single by Jordan Laske.

The Spiders pushed a run across in the home half of the third, and then tied things up at five apiece in the bottom of the fourth. Richmond went on to take its first lead of the day in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a two-run single by Alden Mathes. The Spiders threatened again in the seventh, but Todd Moxey got an inning-ending strike out to leave three runners on base and prevent any additional damage.

Kopack struck again in the top of the seventh, this time using a two-run shot to tie the game at 7-7. Alex Ramirez also scored on the play after singling up the middle to lead off the inning. A two-out single by Justin Cherry later pushed across Eric Genther to put the Rams back on top 8-7.

Rhode Island scored its final run of the game in the top of the eighth when Kopack doubled with two away and then scored on a base hit by Genther.

Broc French and Bryan Kraus then combined for a scoreless frame before Kraus finished things off in the bottom of the ninth.
