How it Happened
The long ball was the name of the game on Friday as Rhody and Richmond combined for 10 home runs in a 16-9 victory for the Spiders.

Addison Kopack got the action started in the top of the first, belting his third round-tripper of the series to give the Rams an early advantage. Richmond responded with a five-run second – which featured an Alden Mathes grand slam – and added three additional runs in the third – including back-to-back homers from Jake Elbeery and Jason Neff – to lead 8-1 after three complete.

A two-run homer by Alex Ramirez cut the Spiders' lead to 8-3 in the top of the fourth, but Neff's second home run of the day – this time a three-run shot – sparked a seven-run effort in the bottom of the frame that put the home team on top 15-3.

The Rams got four runs back in their next trip to the plate as Rob Butler had a three-run blast and Tommy Cartnick sent the very next pitch out over the center field wall to make it 15-7.

John Morrison relieved Quincy Clark to start the fifth, and retired each of the nine hitters he faced to get the game to the eighth inning. There, David Marchetti and Ramirez went yard in back-to-back at-bats to cut the deficit to 15-9, but Richmond added another run in the bottom of the inning for the eventual 16-9 victory.
