How it Happened
Rhode Island Women's Basketball dropped its first road game of the season, falling 59-48 at the University of Maine on Tuesday night.
Rhody struggled offensively, shooting 28.6% from the floor and finishing the night 1-for-22 from beyond the arc. URI did commit fewer turnovers than the Black Bears (10-16) and earned the advantage in offensive boards at 18-11.
The game was close for its entirety, as the Rams had earned a narrow 27-25 lead at the halftime break. After facing a one-point deficit at the end of the opening quarter, URI fought back to pull ahead.
The back-and-forth action continued in the second half, though the Rams did lead for the majority of the third quarter until a steal and a layup put Maine up 42-40 with seconds to go. The Black Bears carried the momentum into the fourth, picking up five quick points before forcing head coach Tammi Reiss to call timeout. The home team continued to pad its lead by as much as 11 points until a layup by Mayé Touré cut it back down to single digits with four minutes on the clock. Unfortunately, the Rams were unable to regain momentum as Maine held on for the win.

- Hyman was on the floor for all but three minutes of the game and contributed a pair of steals.
- Dee Dee Davis dished out three assists and grabbed five rebounds.
- The Rams scored 12 points off of fast breaks compared to Maine's two.
