RHODE ISLAND VS. VCU - SERIES NOTES

• Rhode Island and VCU are playing for the 21st time overall on Wednesday.
• Rhody holds an 11-9 lead in the series, including a 5-2 edge when playing in the Ryan Center.

• Wednesday's game features the two most frequent free throw shooting teams in the Atlantic 10. VCU leads the conference and ranks 17th nationally with 22.5 free throw attempts per game. Rhode Island is second in the A-10 and 35th in the country with 21.6 per game.

RAMS BREAK PROGRAM FREE THROW RECORD

• Rhode Island found its rhythm at the free throw line at George Mason, shooting 25-for-27 Saturday.
• The .926 free throw percentage from the stripe was the best single-game performance in program history.
• The previous mark for team percentage with at least 20 attempts was .919 when URI was 21-for-23 against Duquesne on March 3, 2007.
• Rhode Island ranks 24th in the country with 16.1 made free throws per game. It is tied with Fordham for the most made free throws per game in the Atlantic 10.

CAREY COMING OFF TOP SCORING GAME FOR URI

• Redshirt junior Jalen Carey had 21 points over the weekend at George Mason, his highest point total in 65 career games for URI.
• His overall career high was 26 points while playing for Syracuse against Connecticut on Nov. 15, 2018.
• Carey's final point of the game at George Mason was the 500th of his career.
• This season, he is averaging a career-best 9.8 points per game.
• He is shooting .434 from the field (63-for-145), which matches his shooting percentage from last season, when he was 49-for-11 from the floor in 24 games.
• Carey is He is shooting 83.0 percent at the free throw line (44-of-53), which is up from 65.7 percent (23-of-35) from a year ago.

TCHIKOU NETS DOUBLE DIGITS FOR THE FIRST TIME

• Redshirt sophomore forward Alex Tchikou scored a career-high 10 points Saturday at George Mason.
• It was the first career double-digit effort for the big man, who was 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the game.
• Tchikou has scored six or more points in four of his last five games.
• He had six or more points four times in his first 16 games of the season.
• Tchikou is the 11th different player to score 10 or more points in a game for the Rams this season.
