Baumann, Hsu Reach Consolation Final of 1-Meter Dive

How It Happened

Senior Marta Baumann and freshman Lily Hsu combined to score four team points for Rhode Island on the opening day of the 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Championship.

Competing in the 1-meter diving event, Baumann and Hsu both advanced to the consolation final. Baumann placed 14th with her score of 232.55 points, while Hsu was 16th overall with a score of 173.20. Hsu posted the fourth highest score among freshmen in the field.

The Rams also got team points in the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. URI's team of Julia Renna, Mackenzie Thomas, Ella Hacker and Abby Zadorozny tied with Saint Louis for 10th place to score 13 points.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Rhode Island got 12 more points for finishing in 11th place. Rylee Kelly, Aimee Garcia, Camryn Kreuscher and Mia Bonvissuto finished in a time of 7:38.13.

What's Next
Thursday begins the individual swimming events at SPIRE Institute, with the women racing in the 500 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard Individual Medley, 50 Yard Freestyle and the 4x200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

The preliminary rounds in each event begin at 10 a.m., with the finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. Rhode Island will be represented in each event by the following:

500 Yard Freestyle - Rylee Kelly (Heat 7), Mia Bonvissuto (Heat 5), Lyndsey Warner (Heat 4), Shauna Killane (Heat 3)

200 Individual Medley (57 competitors)
