Rams Power Past Sam Houston, 13-3

How it Happened
A five-run explosion in the top of the third inning paved the way for Rhode Island to pound Sam Houston 13-3 Saturday afternoon.

Leading 1-0, the Rams (1-1) batted around in the top of the third inning. Ryan King led off the frame with a walk, followed by a Mark Coley single. Addison Kopack was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Billy Butler, who doubled down the left field line to drive in King and Coley. Anthony DePino followed with an RBI single to bring Kopack in. Michael Anderson capped the rally when he drilled a double to the gap in left center to score Butler and DePino.

URI added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, giving the pitching staff plenty of breathing room to work with. Trystan Levesque tossed 6.0 solid innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out eight batters. Bo Brutti and Ryan Andrade combined for three scoreless innings of relief as Rhody cruised to its first win of the season.
