RHODE ISLAND VS. GEORGE MASON - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and George Mason are facing each other for the 19th time on Friday.
- Friday is the Atlantic 10 opener for both schools.
- The Rams lead the all-time series, 14-4.
- The series began in 1985, when Rhody scored a 3-1 victory over the Patriots at the Penn State Invitational.
- Rhode Island is 8-1 at home against George Mason.
- Rhode Island is 4-2 against the Patriots over the last three seasons, though the teams have split matches each of the last two years.Â
- Last season, after the Patriots won the first meeting 3-0 on Oct. 28, URI came back with a 3-1 victory the following day.
- Karlee Pinell had a combined 19 kills in the two matches with George Mason last season.
- In the 3-1 win for the Rams, Gabrielle Shilling had eight kills and eight blocks.
- George Mason's Nani Spaar ranks third in the Atlantic 10 with 3.81 kills per set.
- She is fourth in the league with 137 total kills.

PASSERELLO SETTING UP OTHERS FOR SUCCESS
- Redshirt sophomore Hope Passerello handled the setter position for Rhode Island in its wins over American and Stonehill.
- Her passing helped the Rams hit .220 against American and then .347 against Stonehill.
- It was the top two hitting percentages for Rhode Island this year.
- Passerello had 76 assists over the two matches.
- Her 43 in the American win were the most for any player on the team this season.
- She added 33 more against Stonehill.
- It was the first two times this season a URI player has reached 30 assists in a match.
VENTE FINDS RHYTHM ON OFFENSE
- Redshirt sophomore Emma Vente had the two best offensive matches of her career last weekend.
- She opened Saturday with a career-high 12 kills to go with four digs against American.
- That was followed by six kills with just one error in 20 attacks against Stonehill.
