RHODE ISLAND VS. YALE - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island is 2-6 all time against host Yale.
- The Bulldogs have won the last six meetings between the teams.
- The last time the teams met was 2018, when Yale scored a 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 victory over URI at the Art Carmichael Invitational in Kingston, R.I.
- This marks Rhode Island's fifth appearance at the Yale Invitational.
- The Rams also played in the tournament in 2006, 2007, 2015 and 2017.
- In 2017, URI defeated Clemson and Delaware, but fell to Yale in the tournament.
- All time, the Rams are 5-7 in matches at the Yale Invitational, with four of the losses coming against the host Bulldogs.
RHODE ISLAND VS. CONNECTICUT - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Connecticut have faced each other 30 times through the years.
- The Rams lead the all-time series, 23-6.
- URI won the first 17 meetings with the Huskies until UConn recorded a 3-0 sweep in 1993.
- Since 1993, the series has been far more even, with the Huskies holding a slight 7-6 edge.
- The last time the teams played was at the 2015 UConn Invitational.Â
- The Rams won that match, 3-1.
RHODE ISLAND VS. SACRED HEART - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Sacred Heart are facing each other for the sixth time.
- The Rams lead the all-time series, 3-2.
- URI won the first three meetings, but the Pioneers have won each of the last two matches.
- The teams last played each other in 2019 as part of the Harvard Invitational.
- Sacred Heart won the match in a five-set marathon, rallying from a 2-1 deficit.
- Rhode Island graduate student Gabrielle Shilling had a career-high 18 kills the last time the schools met.
RHODE ISLAND LEADS ATLANTIC 10 IN BLOCKING
- Rhode Island has been solid at the net defensively, averaging 2.24 blocks per set.
- That average is the highest in the Atlantic 10, just ahead of Dayton's 2.23 blocks per set.
- The Rams have 82 block assists and six solo blocks for a team total of 41.
- Redshirt junior Samantha Blahut leads the team with 17 total blocks, just ahead of graduate student Gabrielle Shilling, who has 15 blocks.
- Twin sisters Madi and Megan Disu each have 13 blocks.
- Freshman walk-on Chloe Abuto leads the team with an average of 1.0 block per set. She has the 12 blocks in 12 sets played and ranks eighth in the A-10 in blocks per set.Â
